Daniel Egg: Information Stream

Over time, smoke – the medium of early forms of communication – was degraded from the intellectual gesture of the 1920s about the characteristic youthful immortality of the 1960s to the trigger of social sniffles today. Daniel Egg, who uses cigarette smoke as a tool of communication in his project “Information Stream”, reflects this development and develops a semantic vocabulary of forms that manifests itself in smoke. In a performative self-experiment, he filled his lungs with smoke to create a visual alphabet of spoken language.
